Frequently Asked Questions
Find frequently asked questions about Audrey Shantz Art here!
What is the best age for taking a watercolor class?
The classes are guided and Audrey walks through each step of the painting with you from the sketch, to mixing your colors, to how to paint and when! You’ve got a tour guide for these classes, so they’re great generally speaking for ages 7-107 years old. 🙂
Do I need watercolor experience before taking a class?
Nope! In each class Audrey will cover basic information and talk through how to do things all along the way. Some classes may be harder than others, so if you’re worried, choose a class to start with that seems like it might be easier for you!
How much does a watercolor class cost?
In person watercolor classes, which take place at Audrey Shantz Art in downtown Rockford, MI are $35/person and all supplies are included. Audrey teaches these classes herself and is there to help and answer your questions along the way!
Online classes cost $20 and you receive a private link for the class so that you can paint in the privacy of your own home in your pj’s! You’ll be able to pause the class when you need to, and you’ll be able to do the class several times if you’d like.
How long do classes last?
In person classes tend to be between 1 1/2 hours – 2 hours long, usually closer to the two hour mark.
Online classes can vary in length but tend to be at least one hour.
What supplies will I need when taking an online watercolor class?
Usually you’ll just need watercolor paper, watercolor paints, a size 10 round watercolor brush or something very similar to this, a micron pen or felt tip pen, a pencil and an eraser. Occasionally you may need a ruler or a white crayon.
